Process Safety Specialist

H2 Green Steel is on a mission to disrupt the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the end goal of bringing down CO2 emissions to zero. We are recruiting a Hydrogen Technical Safety Engineering Lead for our hydrogen plant; looking for someone with previous experience in the field of hydrogen production or from working in the: oil & gas, petrochemical, carbon capture or energy transition industries. The H2 Green Steel hydrogen plant is the first of its kind with large scale electrolyzer process systems as well as high pressure storage. In order to deliver a safe solution and prepare authorities as well as permit applications, we will be conducting several safety studies; such as: safety reviews, risk analysis, explosion and blast analysis, CFD modelling, gas detection and measurements. Safety is a top priority for H2GS which is why we need to bring an experienced Technical Safety Engineering Lead on board with previous experience from working in the Nordic region and understanding of local legislation. You will be responsible for ensuring that the technical safety and engineering aspects of the design within the project are developed and maintained to the relevant acceptable standards and applicable legislation. You will review the engineering documentation and give guidance on safety to other stakeholders for the hydrogen facility. To be successful at H2 Green Steel you will need to be able to work well in a greenfield environment, be able to navigate in ambiguity, eager to find solutions and highly motivated by driving this industry shift. We expect you are a hard worker, well organized, proactive, with a teamwork attitude, a flexible approach and ability to work under pressure. Responsibilities Manage the technical process safety strategy for hydrogen plant Review documentation from suppliers and EPCM firms related to hydrogen safety Perform qualitative risk assessments based on information from suppliers Manage and assess Technical Safety Engineering deliverables including, but not limited to: As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) demonstration Hazardous Area Classification Provide support to safety workshops (including HAZOP, SIL/LOPA & HAZID) including arrangement and participation Support and prepare documentation for authorities and make sure the engineering work meets the applicable standards and laws, including but not limited to: Fire- and explosion analysis Smoke and gas dispersion analysis Qualitative and quantitative risk analysis Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) determination CFD and dispersion modelling Qualifications Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering Extensive experience from conducting safety and risk assessment of large-scale hydrogen facilities, transport, or applications of hydrogen as a technical safety engineer, preferably as a Senior/Principal/Lead Engineer in reputable engineering firms Worked on assignments for green and brown field plants in chemical, petrochemical, refinery, power, oil & gas or similar, including understanding of leak frequency and ignition probability, CFD, hydrogen technical safety aspects Experienced with regulations and authorities - must include experience from working in the Nordics at some point Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team for process plant projects Excellent English communication skills What we can offer you If you are passionate about making actual change and having a positive impact on society and our planet, H2 Green Steel offers a unique opportunity to be part of a fun and professional team with high ambitions. Mechanical Engineer - Cold Mill As a Mechanical Engineer, you will belong to the corporate Technical team which supports the company’s different projects and installations in all phases of their lives; from feasibility, through design and engineering, to project execution and operations, maintenance and asset management. The Technology team is responsible for process technology to make sure processes will work, being cost efficient and sustainable. Currently, the team is fully focused on driving and supporting the progress of the Boden project. We are in an exciting phase of the project, going from basic to detailed engineering. You will have an important role in contributing to the design, development and implementation of the mechanical equipment, as well as collaborating with various teams to ensure the functionality, reliability, and sustainability of mechanical components. We are navigating through numerous challenges, and your contributions will directly shape the way the installations are working and delivering value to the customer. Long-term, the role will be based in Boden, Sweden. Responsibilities: - Conduct reviews, verifications and provide technical support of equipment suppliers’ engineering solutions (focusing on safety, process, installation and product), making sure we keep high design standards. - Leading and/or participating in work groups for cross-functional design challenges. - Provide expert advice for construction and site support activities as necessary for equipment installation, (site acceptance) testing and commissioning. - Design and implement maintenance strategies for installations. - Leading and/or participating in improvement projects on installations after commissioning. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. - Minimum 5-7 years' hands-on experience in handling conceptual basic and detail engineering roles, including a profound grasp of mechanical principles and design methodologies, materials science, hydraulics and pneumatics, preferably in a responsible position in reputable engineering firms or in large-scale plant operations. - A tangible understanding of the construction and operation aspects of large-scale industrial projects (green and brown field plants in steel, mining, chemical, petrochemical, pulp & paper, power, oil & gas or similar). - Knowledge of engineering design processes and contractual obligations, preferably from having experience in the management of EPCM contractors. - Experience in working within the steel industry, preferably in the Hotstrip Mill or Cold Mill, is a highly meritorious but not a requirement. - Strong problem-solving skills, solution-focused and creative thinking. - Self-driven, positive and able to take initiative, drive topics and connect to colleagues and external resources. Sustainability Specialist As our Sustainability Specialist, you will be responsible for managing our sustainability reporting and expanding the team's sustainability expertise. The current team has a strong background in climate and environment and we are looking for someone who can add expertise in the social aspects of sustainability, beyond sustainability reporting, to better support the organization. Project Manager Water Treatment and Air Separation - Boden Project

Our first Hydrogen based steel project in Boden is broken down into 4 areas: Hydrogen manufacturing, Iron making (DRI), Steel making, as well as Site Infrastructure and utilities. As Project Manager, you will report directly to the Head of Area, and you will assume responsibility to deliver scope from engineering to hand-over to operations. As one of our Project Managers, to optimize project delivery, you work in a matrix structure including Site Execution, Project Control, and Engineering. The primary scope of delivery for this role will be the Water and Waste Water Treatment plant and the Air Separation Plant, with a heavy focus on the Water and Waste Water Treatment scope. Your main responsibility is to deliver the scope on time and budget by driving key contracts and coordinating resources across the internal team as well as with our partners. You will report status and escalations of the project directly into the management team and other stakeholders (such as Board) as necessary. The role is based in Boden or Stockholm, Sweden. Responsibilities: Lead the Water Treatment and Air Separation Plant delivery for the Boden Project (internally and with external partners) in setting priorities and delivery targets necessary to achieve the company’s goals for the project. Project Manager Power Distribution - Boden Project

Our first Hydrogen based steel project in Boden is broken down into 4 areas: Hydrogen manufacturing, Iron making (DRI), Steel making, as well as Site Infrastructure and utilities. As Project Manager, you will report directly to the Head of Area, and you will assume responsibility to deliver scope from engineering to hand-over to operations. As one of our Project Managers, to optimize project delivery, you work in a matrix structure including Site Execution, Project Control, and Engineering. The primary scope of delivery for this role will be the Site Wide Power Distribution scope from high voltage grid offtake to 33 kV Switchgear. This will include substations, transformers, switchgear, and cabling. Your main responsibility is to deliver the scope on time and budget by driving key contracts and coordinating resources across the internal team as well as with our partners. You will report status and escalations of the project directly into the management team and other stakeholders (such as Board) as necessary. This position is based in Boden or Stockholm, Sweden. As the Project Manager for the Hydrogen manufacturing project, you will report directly to the Head of the Area, and you will assume the leadership responsibility for delivering scope from engineering throughout operations. As one of our key leaders for project delivery, you will work in a matrix structure and will play a pivotal role in coordinating cross-functional teams, steering project schedules, and proactively assessing risks while identifying opportunities for process enhancements, including Site Execution, Project Control, and Engineering, ensuring to deliver the scope on time and budget by driving key contracts and coordinating resources across the internal team as well as with our partners. You will report the status and escalations of the project directly to the management team and other stakeholders (such as Board) as necessary. The role is based in Stockholm, Sweden, with regular travel to various projects, contractors, and fabrication sites as required. Responsibilities: - Manage and lead EPCM and project execution activities for the green hydrogen project including providing leadership to the owner team. - Lead multi-disciplinary teams (EPCM firms, OEM, PDOP, and other partners) from detailed engineering to commissioning and operations, ensuring projects are executed within budget and schedules. - Ensure design, procurement, contracts, and construction (internal and external) are delivering to project requirements and against cost and schedule targets. - Setup and implement H2GS governance structure for your scope across disciplines ensuring it is functioning as required for driving communication, decisions, and control. - Contribute to the development of project management tools, processes, and standard operating procedures. - Own and deliver against scope, schedule, and budget within overall project requirements. - Control the scope source of truth and clearly communicate this to the team, keeping them on critical tasks. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or a relevant field required; master’s degree preferred. - Minimum 15 years of industry experience, of which at least 10 years managing multi-phase, multi-million-dollar projects in green energy, Oil & Gas, semiconductor, automotive, battery manufacturing, or a related field. - Track record as project manager driving complex projects, covering both the planning/designing phase as well as the execution phase. - Experience in effectively managing project budgets and schedules. - Proven skills in managing cross-functional teams and leading multi-disciplinary project teams. Working on an owner’s team is a plus. - Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is a plus. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict resolution ability, and strong problem-solving skills. - Fluency in English, and Swedish is an advantage.
