Scope of work: We have an opening for a fixed-term position (vikariat) as Engineer on our vessel Northern Storm from 27/8-17/12 2025, to cover for two separate parental leave absences.  First shift: 27/8-10/9 Second shift:  22/10 - 5/11 Third Shift: 3/12 - 17/12 The position includes travels in Europe and a chance to experience new places. Technical information about M/V Northern Storm: The vessel underwent a renovation 2023 and the the complete engine plant was replaced: 4 x New Main engines Volvo Penta D8 & D16 2 x Overhauled Servogear PTI 2 x New 56Kw Caterpillar gensets New Lyngaa Marine Manouver and controll system New COMAP Alarm & Monitoring system Who we are looking for We believe that you will succeed in this position if you have previous boat experience, prefer a variation in work tasks, enjoy travelling and to see new places. Since only one engineer is on duty at a time, it’s important that you are confident in independent troubleshooting of machine equipment and take initiative to come up with creative solutions. A genuine interest in technology is important for our success. Requirements: STCW Engine Certificate A valid basic safety certificate (STCW) EU citizenship or a valid EU work permit Practical offshore experience of technical systems and machinery An interest for technical solutions The ability to communicate on a professional proficiency level in English. Scope of work At Njord Survey we have a set-up where the processing of data is carried out from the Gothenburg office while the vessel crews are responsible for collecting survey data offshore. As a Mate, you will be part of the offshore crew and work close to the Master onboard. You will make sure that the vessel is operated in a safe and correct way as well as carry out preventive maintenance on vessel equipment and service systems onboard. A Mate at Njord Survey can independently take on the role as Officer of the watch when the Master is not on duty. The job also includes to continuously evaluate and interpret the safety conditions for vessel, environment and crew to decide if the conditions live up to the established safety requirements for operation. You will work onboard one of our vessels for two weeks followed by four weeks off from work. This is a fixed term employment (vikariat/parental leave cover) from the end of August until the end of February, with the possibility to extension. Who we are looking for We are looking for you who have an interest in technical solutions and preferably someone with previous experience from working on smaller vessels. The organizational language is English and therefore you need to be able to communicate on a professional proficiency level in English in both speech and writing. It is preferred if you have experience from the offshore survey industry and live up to one or several of the criteria list below, but this is not a requirement. • Valid certificates of competency for working on a UK flagged vessel • Completed course for Master of Yacht • Appropriate and valid medical certificates for seafarers • A valid certificate for completed Basic Safety course that is STCW approved • A valid SRC certificate or equivalent For this position we think that it is of great importance that you have the right personal qualities, abilities and mindset since we believe that these will determine how well you will perform and succeed in the role. We value a good seamanship and an interest in technical solutions higher than previous work experience. Having the ability to come up with solutions to problems and the drive to make sure that things get done, is key when working on smaller vessels. Scope of work: The role as Project Manager is a full-time position located in our office in Frihamnen, Gothenburg with a spectacular view of the Gothenburg harbour. As a Project Manager you are responsible for all steps in the project process, including to planning, leading and follow-up projects from start to finish.
