Head of AI Location: Stockholm, Sweden (Hybrid) We’re Kognity – an EdTech company on a mission to transform learning for high school students around the world. Our platform helps teachers teach and students learn in a smarter, more engaging way. Now we’re looking for a Head of AI to lead the charge in how we responsibly and effectively adopt AI across our product. What’s the role about? You’ll split your time between leading an AI Enablement squad (~50%) and driving Kognity’s overall AI strategy, working closely with our Product Leadership Team and AI Champs. You'll shape technical choices, build scalable infrastructure, and help teams ship value faster using AI. This isn’t about building one-off AI features—it’s about enabling safe, cost-effective, and future-proof AI capabilities that help us deliver more value to teachers and students, faster. What you'll do: Lead our AI Enablement squad – manage and mentor AI engineers, and stay hands-on in day-to-day work. Drive our AI strategy – work with product and engineering leaders to define how AI fits into our long-term vision, and help teams experiment and evaluate smartly. Build reusable infra & tools – things like prompt orchestration, caching, observability, and eval frameworks to help other teams move faster. Own AI tooling budget & vendor relationships – keep costs in check, simplify procurement, and track usage. Ensure AI compliance – collaborate with Legal & InfoSec on policies, automation, and keeping our AI usage secure and auditable. Foster AI knowledge – lead our internal AI Champs network, coordinate knowledge sharing, and keep us plugged into the latest from the AI world. What we’re looking for: You’ve been a senior or principal engineer, and you know how to build and architect modern systems with APIs, caching, observability, and all the good stuff. You’ve worked with LLM stacks (OpenAI, Claude, LangChain, RAG pipelines etc.) and know how to make smart technical and business trade-offs. You’ve managed or led a team before and genuinely enjoy helping others grow. You’re great at collaborating across functions, especially in product-focused environments. You understand AI privacy, cost, and compliance implications (and ideally how to make them easier for others to follow). Why join us?
