IO Interactive is seeking a Multiplayer programmer to help implement multiplayer functionalities in our Glacier Tech on our backbone team. We are currently working on three exciting game projects: Project 007, Project Fantasy and Hitman. Project 007 is a brand-new James Bond video game featuring an entirely original Bond story, and Project Fantasy is an ambitious new IP for console and PC that will revolutionize the online fantasy RPG genre. As we work on these exciting projects, we need a skilled professional to assist us in the development of our state-of-the-art propriety game development engine, Glacier. What you will do: You will help enhance our in-house Glacier engine by adding multiplayer capabilities. This involves working on the design and implementation of network/multiplayer features for the engine and our games that need multiplayer support. You’ll collaborate closely with the AI and gameplay teams to develop network-aware features and ensure smooth workflows and setups. You will work with the online team to help create, manage, and monitor backend infrastructure. Your team will be responsible for building and maintaining the network layer, ensuring the smooth delivery of multiplayer features. Who you are: You have experience as a software, engine, or multiplayer/network programmer and have contributed to the development of at least one multiplayer game. You have solid knowledge of C/C++ programming. You understand key multiplayer technology concepts like firewall traversal, data compression, encryption, distributed algorithms, latency compensation, and more. You are comfortable working within large, existing codebases and integrating new technologies. This is a permanent position based in one of our studios, with the option to work from home up to two days per week. What you will do: Create, implement, and optimize assets and systems for in-game, real-time effects (e.g., for particle effects, shaders, simulations, rigging of real-time dynamics etc.) Take ownership of creating destructible setups and content. Take responsibility for cinematic setups and deliver custom high-quality visual effects for the cinematic team.
