Job description As Studienleiter/Chefsrepetitör, you hold a senior position within our music team and play an important role in guiding and maintaining the artistic quality of the company. You are a key person in the preparation and delivery of our productions. You will plan and coordinate the work of our experienced house répétiteurs and, in each production, be responsible for supporting our casts through coaching. Alongside playing for operatic productions, the position includes coaching soloists, both permanent singers and guest artists, in the operatic repertoire. You will also contribute to the development and performance health of our successful Malmö Opera Chorus by regularly coaching members of the chorus. In addition to rehearsal work and vocal coaching, you will be responsible for our important collaboration with the Malmö Opera Academy, where our Master's degree programme for opera singers and répétiteurs is conducted in collaboration with the Malmö Academy of Music at Lund University. Qualifications We are looking for an experienced répétiteur and vocal coach. You will have broad experience of playing the standard operatic repertoire in a professional context, a deep understanding and knowledge of vocal technique, and proven experience as a vocal coach. The position places high demands on flexibility, responsibility and organisational skills. You have very good communication skills and are straightforward and clear in your leadership and decision-making. You are a driven and responsive relationship builder with the ability to collaborate with many different professional areas within a large organisation. We are looking for someone who has: a relevant artistic degree proven experience as a répétiteur in opera and musicals performance experience as a collaborative pianist in general, for example in chamber music and vocal recitals documented experience of vocal coaching at a professional artistic level good language skills in the core operatic languages experience as a conductor, which is advantageous proficiency in English. Knowledge of Swedish is advantageous but not required. Employment conditions The position is full-time, 100%, and is a fixed-term three-year contract with the possibility of extension. It is essential for Malmö Opera that the successful candidate contributes to creating healthy cooperation and quality results across all the exciting and diverse contexts it produces. In addition to the main opera productions, the successful candidate will also work in smaller ensembles and contribute to the chamber music series. Employment conditions The employment will commence on January 1st, 2027, or as mutually agreed. The position is permanent, with a one-year trial period. Due to the nature of a working in an opera orchestra in a house like Malmö Opera, the successful candidate may be required to play Contrabassoon as part of the rotation of services within the group, for example where the Principal or Co-principal positions double on Contra. Contrabassoon however will not be part of the audition as only the primary function of Co-principal bassoon is assessed. If during the trial, the rotation of the group and repertoire requires it, playing contrabassoon may be required of the candidate Non-EU citizens (except for the Nordic countries) need a work and residence permit to work in Sweden.
