Your focus will be to coordinate and drive broad, internal engineering and scale-up projects, such as production ramp-up, material innovations and design engineering, ensuring structure, momentum, and clear communication across R&D, production, and commercial teams. You will turn complex technical work into clear project specifications and executable plans, align resources, and follow up relentlessly until deliverables are completed. You will coordinate stakeholders across R&D, production and operations, remove blockers, and drive follow-up with a strong sense of structure and urgency. This role is highly coordinating and delivery-oriented, built for someone who brings order, drives decisions, and makes sure we finish what we start.   Who are we looking for? The work will be concentrated around experimental development of organic electronic materials. The over-arching aim is to improve photovoltaic cells performance and thus accelerate the transition of the global energy market towards zero emissions. Together we will custom tailor a specific topic that combines your skillset with our needs. Examples of projects could be: Finding new ways of assessing device material quality for Chemists Exploring new ways of combining materials to achieve better performance for Material Scientists Digging deep into optoelectrical properties of semiconductors for the Physicists At Epishine, we believe in the power of interdisciplinary collaboration. Some of your responsibilities include: Leading the conversion of R&D developments into production-ready processes, ensuring new materials, device designs, and process steps are translated into stable roll-to-roll operations with defined process windows and control strategies. Industrializing concepts and pilot processes, moving from lab and pilot scale to full production through structured scale-up, risk mitigation, qualification, and ramp-up activities. Acting as the technical bridge between R&D, production, and equipment suppliers, aligning experimental intent with industrial constraints such as uptime, yield, throughput, and maintainability. Defining and implementing manufacturing-ready process architectures, including material flow, process sequencing, control philosophy, and acceptance criteria. Owning the introduction and conversion of new equipment into production, from technical specification and procurement through FAT/SAT, commissioning, process qualification, and handover to operations. Safeguarding yield and performance during and after conversion, identifying critical-to-quality parameters, implementing monitoring strategies, and ensuring early detection of drift or instability. Driving structured change management, owning process changes end-to-end—from planning and execution to follow-up, documentation, training, and continuous improvement.   This is a role where strategic vision meets practical execution, where you will influence long-term production strategy while staying close to the technology that makes it possible. You will be working from our headquarters in Linköping, where we have our offices, lab and production facilities. You will report to our CTO. Who are we looking for? You are a highly experienced professional with a strong technical foundation and a proven track record of delivering impactful process improvements. Specifically, you bring: A Master’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or similar 10+ years of experience in production process development and industrialization, with a clear track record of converting development projects into stable, high-volume manufacturing Demonstrated success in technology transfer, including scaling processes, qualifying equipment, defining process windows, and establishing production control Project leadership skills, capable of driving complex, long-term conversion initiatives across R&D, operations, quality, and external suppliers Solid understanding of roll-to-roll plastic processing, either through hands-on experience or deep theoretical knowledge of web handling, coating, drying, lamination, and converting processes Preferably, experience with roll-to-roll processing of functional materials and/or printed electronics, including the challenges of multilayer structures, functional coatings, and sensitive materials Comfort operating in a developing market and evolving organization, where priorities shift and conversion paths must be adapted as technology matures.   As a person, you build strong relationships through clear communication and collaboration, while confidently taking ownership of your work and driving processes forward. The mission As a Production Engineer at Epishine, you will be part of our Production Engineering team where your mission will be to drive continuous improvements in production capacity and quality in our unique, roll-to-roll-based process. By working hands-on with our machines and actively participating in the production process, you will create a thorough understanding of the challenges we face. This will support you with implementing effective, user-friendly solutions which will be key in the scaling of our capacity. With your contribution, we will be able to scale our production further and get closer to our vision of contributing to a world where energy is not a problem. During the first year, you will focus on learning our production process, operating our machines as well as sensors and vision systems for in line quality control. You will also write SOPs and work with quality assurance. You will become well-versed in all parts of our production process to train new operators and engineers.  Later on, additional tasks include driving implementation of manufacturing process optimizations and simplifications, and bridge process improvements from our development organisation to our production organisation, highlighting end-user experience. You will also work with mechanical engineering to add new units or add-ons to the production machines, regularly maintain our machines and analyze operations to understand sources of deviations and implement necessary solutions Whilst you will be collaborating closely with your colleagues in our Production Engineering team, you will also work tightly with our R&D team and Operations team. You will initially report to our CTO, and be based in our headquarters in Tornby, Linköping where we have both our office and production site. Currently, we work office hours (Monday-Friday), but as we grow and our production needs increase, shift work might be required.  Who are we looking for? We are looking for an experienced Production Engineer with an interest and affinity in working hands-on with operating a high-tech production process, and developing skills in a quickly growing scale-up. We believe that you: have a relevant technical education combined with several years experience of working in a similar, hands-on technical role in a production environment have hands-on experience of implementing new technical solutions in a manufacturing process, ensuring high capacity and quality as well as user friendliness have experience of working with roll-to-roll production processing machines, especially in a scale-up environment (plus) have experience in designing and developing industrial equipment and automation systems (plus) have experience of working with PLC and CAD (plus) As a person, you are a smooth communicator with a good understanding of how to take complex, technical solutions and make them suitable for the end user of the process. You enjoy working with people, and you might even have experience of working as a team lead, where your ability to drive projects to the finish line has had a positive, measurable impact on manufacturing processes.
