Lediga jobb hos Vinterstellar AB
About the role: We are building software that tracks what moves in orbit and flags what matters. You will be working with orbit determination in the intersection between orbital mechanics, mission operations, and intelligence. While you will touch upon many of our projects, your primary work will be to lead the technical work on our LSSA-Pilot project, developing the algorithms, data pipelines, and operational framing that make space situational awareness usable for non-engineers. You will work with our flight dynamicsists, who know the orbital mechanics. Your job is to translate sensor data into orbit knowledge and on to Space Situational Awareness. This role grows naturally toward technical leadership. What you will work on: Orbit determination, object tracking, and proximity analysis algorithms Integration of external space object catalogs and data sources Conjunction screening, collision avoidance computation, and launch safety analysis Defining CONOPS-level requirements: what operational users need to see, when, and why Collaboration with research and industry partners in the SSA domain What we are looking for: Mid-to-senior candidate, 5–8 years of experience. Operational instinct comes from years in mission rooms; we need seniority here. Experience with how real missions are operated — not just the physics, but the process Background in controls engineering, preferably applied to orbital mechanics and flight dynamics Ability to bridge the gap between rigorous analysis and what decision-makers need to act on Strong programming skills in Python Understanding of orbit determination or propagation techniques MSc or PhD in control engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or equivalent Useful but not required Experience with space object catalogs, TLE formats, or conjunction data messages Familiarity with CCSDS standards Interest in defense applications Background in mission control, flight operations, or CONOPS development Requirements Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus EU or EES citizen About Vinterstellar Vinterstellar is a Stockholm-based aerospace company doing mission analysis and flight dynamics for satellite operators and space agencies — from GEO telecommunications to Earth observation to deep-space trajectory design. Founded in 2018, we are five people and growing, with multiple funded development projects running and a product evolving into a decision-oriented mission analysis platform for the European market. At Vinterstellar you will have real ownership from day one. Together we work hybrid and have a lot of freedom when it comes to structuring our time and the way we want to work. How to apply Send your CV and a short note about yourself to: Applications: [email protected] Role questions: Emil Vinterhav, CEO — [email protected] Process questions: Andreas Thorell Berchtold — [email protected] Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We hire as soon as we find the right person.

We are looking for a software development lead for Leia, our easy-to-use mission analysis tool. The softwares core functionality is in beta testing and your role will be to lead the development to fully released product and incorporate more capabilities from this point onward. Our flight dynamics team codes the algorithms. You will build the product around it, owning architecture end to end: API, front-end, database, containerization, and deployment. This is the first dedicated software engineering hire at Vinterstellar and a key position. We foresee that the software team will grow under the lead of the person filling it. WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON Back-end: expose the analytical engine as REST API. Front-end: mission configuration, results display, and dashboards Database design, user management, and audit trail Containerization, CI/CD, and deployment (cloud and self-hosted) 3D orbit visualization, building on our existing online orbit calculator Report generation and structured data export Over time: natural language query features, additional web services, and data interfaces for space situational awareness WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Mid-level candidate, 3–5 years of experience building production web applications. Willing to work across the full stack as the primary builder in a small team Strong Python skills; experience with FastAPI, Django, or similar frameworks JavaScript or TypeScript with a modern front-end framework (React preferred) Comfortable with databases, Docker, and basic DevOps Curiosity about space, scientific computing, or complex engineering domains — you do not need to be a rocket scientist, but you should want to understand what the platform does USEFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED Familiarity with Three.js, WebGL, or data visualization libraries Interest in LLM integration and AI-assisted interfaces Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code REQUIREMENTS Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus EU or EES citizen ABOUT VINTERSTELLAR Vinterstellar is a Stockholm-based aerospace company doing mission analysis and flight dynamics for satellite operators and space agencies — from GEO telecommunications to Earth observation to deep-space trajectory design.
