The Engineering & Performance Optimization Lead has a key role in ensuring the successful com missioning, startup, and long-term operational excellence of the Direct Reduction Iron (DRI) plant. This position will collaborate closely with OEM engineering team s during the design and com missioning phases, then transition into the operations team to benchmark, analyze, and optimize plant performance against global DRI industry standards. The role focuses on enhancing productivity, reliability, and product quality through continuous improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities (not limited to) 1. Experience Extensive experience in similar role, preferably in a plant operations & maintenance of HBI and HDRI, or similar products, with a strong focus on managing, leading and/ or improving DRI process and technology in high-dem and industrial environments. Strong background in com missioning, troubleshooting, and performance benchmarking Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and lean manufacturing principles Experience in greenfield projects, startups or commissioning. Maintenance Mechanic – Hydrogen Plant As a Maintenance Mechanic in our hydrogen plant, you will be part of a highly skilled team dedicated to keeping our mechanical systems operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. This hands-on role involves the maintenance and repair of rotating equipment, pneumatic systems, piping, and other essential infrastructure that supports hydrogen production and storage. Working within a structured maintenance framework, you’ll troubleshoot issues, carry out scheduled servicing, and follow technical documentation to ensure high plant availability and performance. You’ll apply industry-standard practices—including bolt tightening procedures in accordance with EN 1591-4—and conduct detailed visual inspections to detect mechanical wear or early signs of failure. Process Operator Hydrogen Plant As a Process Operator in our hydrogen plant, you ensure the safe and efficient production of hydrogen through electrolysis. Your day begins with reviewing shift logs and checking the electrolyzer system for proper operation—monitoring voltage, current, pressure, and water levels via the control system. You continuously monitor the process, perform routine checks, and read instruments across the plant during regular rounds. You ensure the ultra-pure water supply remains stable, take water and chemical samples for lab testing, and respond promptly to any alarms or process deviations. You also monitor gas purity, perform safety checks on valves, pressure gauges, and piping, and coordinate with maintenance when needed. Accurate logging and clear communication during shift handovers are key parts of your role. Process Operator – Electric Arc Furnace As a process operator at our new smelter, you will work with future smelter technology, the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF). You will be a key person ensuring that the smelter production runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with both quality and environmental requirements. Throughout your work, you will monitor any deviations that might indicate problems in the process. Your role is technically demanding and responsible, focusing on ensuring the production flow while maintaining safety in the workplace. Responsibilities: • Operate the steel melting process in the electric arc furnace. • Control, operate, and maintain the equipment and processes in the smelting workshop. • Focus on troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems related to the melting processes. • Verify, document, and record data. • Actively contribute to creating a safe working environment by participating in the development and maintenance of process control and safety procedures. • Be a role model in fostering a culture where safety is always the top priority, and coach and guide less experienced colleagues to create a safe and efficient workplace together. • You will be entrusted with making decisions and proactively finding solutions. Responsibilities: • Monitor and control process parameters in casting equipment and adjust them as needed. • Manage and document production data, including deviations, and contribute to continuous improvement. • Take action during downtime and ensure correct handling of consumables. • Work in a shift team in a hot and dusty environment, collaborating with maintenance personnel to ensure stable operations. • Maintain a safe working environment and actively participate in the development and maintenance of safety procedures. Electrician – Mill-wide Service We are looking for a skilled Electrician to join our Mill-wide Services team at Stegra Boden. This role is essential in maintaining the operational safety and reliability of overhead cranes, lifting equipment, and packaging machinery. Reporting to the Daytime Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that these critical systems function efficiently to support our production goals. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair electrical faults in crane control panels and lifting equipment. Install, maintain, and perform preventive and corrective electrical repairs on systems and equipment in low and medium voltage, following industrial standards. Conduct regular inspections of machinery, electrical components, transformers, circuit breakers, and wiring to ensure safe and effective operation. Troubleshoot electrical issues using technical diagrams, blueprints, and tests. Program and configure electrical control systems. Repair and replace faulty equipment, wiring, motors, switchgear, control panels, and fixtures. Train and guide operators in basic maintenance tasks and electrical safety procedures. Assist mechanical and engineering teams in diagnosing electrical issues and performing system upgrades. Ensure safety compliance by following Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and using proper PPE. Maintain high housekeeping standards to promote a safe working environment. Qualifications Vocational electrical qualification with strong maintenance knowledge. Documented qualifications in workplace safety (e.g. ESA or OSHA). Additional certificates (e.g. Crane license, welding certificate) is a plus. Experience Significant experience from a similar role within heavy industry such as steel mills, manufacturing, or mining. Familiarity with Swedish and EU safety codes, as well as industry standards for electrical and crane operations. Knowledgeable in the correct application and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Skills & Attributes Role model for promoting a strong safety culture Ability to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.
