Surface Inspection Engineer We're looking for a motivated and curious Surface Inspection Engineer to join our team in Boden. In this role, you’ll work with advanced vision-based inspection systems that detect and classify surface defects during manufacturing processes. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced engineers, quality teams, and production staff to improve product quality using cutting-edge machine learning tools and techniques. This role is suited for both newly graduated students and for those who have worked a few years with specifically surface inspection engineering. What You’ll Do: Learn and support the setup, development, and optimization of surface inspection systems Apply machine learning and computer vision knowledge to improve defect detection and classification Work with quality and production teams to identify and solve surface quality issues Assist in training team members on using and understanding inspection system outputs Help develop tools and processes for communicating defect data across the production chain Contribute to maintaining high safety, environmental, and quality standards Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (completed or graduating this year) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline Experience from coursework or projects in machine learning, computer vision, or data analysis An interest in applying technical skills to real-world industrial applications Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset Willingness to learn and grow in a production-oriented environment Previous exposure to manufacturing or materials processes is a bonus but not required Location: Boden What we can offer you If you are passionate about making actual change and having a positive impact on society and our planet, Stegra offers a unique opportunity to be part of a fun and professional team with high ambitions. As a Principal Engineer for Quality Operations, you are to provide expert input in scoping and driving the implementation of quality standards and processes globally. You are improving problem-solving methods and are gatekeeping their execution. You are vital in securing ISO 9001 and ISO 140001 standard compliance. This incorporates development and implementation of management systems for said standards and more specific requirements such as PDM in close cooperation with operations and other functions in Revolt. You’re working closely with the needs of operations regarding quality standards and providing expert input to strengthen and secure the quality setup in our revolt factory in Skellefteå. The function also needs to secure the recertification of the ISO standards for the Revolt Västerås organization. Key responsibilities Be the principal engineer that guides and drives activities needed for achieving the necessary quality standards to reach a quality operations organization. Act as an intermediary between all stakeholders inside revolt organization and external parties. Drive root cause analysis for high impact problems, assist in issue resolutions with crossfunctional team for solutions. Analyzes opportunities for optimization, time, cost, and resource-saving in work and material flow in Quality. Implement, improve and maintain high housekeeping standards across the organization. Take responsibility for establishing an excellent working culture with the stakeholders involved to achieve a high level of engagement, and a positive attitude making things happen with good team spirit. Requirements Degree in MSc/ MEng in engineering field or BSc if working experience can compensate for the lack of master’s degree. 20+ years of experience in Quality systems, reliability engineering, failure analysis, test, quality, or service engineering Own leadership and coordinating skills in a highly flexible and frequently changing environment. Deep knowledge of ISO 9001 , ISO 14001 and other relevant standards for recycling of battery materials and process industries Experienced in implementing quality management systems and standards Experienced in quality improvement and problem-solving tools such as six sigma, 8D etc Specific skills As a principal engineer it is a must to have 10+ years management experience from quality organizations to understand stakeholder management and business needs. Knowledge of quality management systems, e.g. ISO 9001, IATF1694, IQC (incoming quality control), PQC, (Product Quality Control), OQC (Outgoing Quality Control). • Highly knowledgeable around 8D and quality troubleshooting tools and in problem-solving and process optimization Six sigma Black belt certification Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Perfect English proficiency Skilled in Business Process Management Project management skills and a successful track record • Strong understanding of material, chemical, and process failure modes. Strong preference for working experience in process industry, i.e. Chemical plants Personal success factors Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines, excellent time management. Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently. Good experience with MS Office. Very good detail orientation. Highly organized and results driven.
