Graphmatech is a Swedish material technology startup developing novel materials for sustainable industrial use. Its patented Aros Graphene® technology enables large-scale industrial use of graphene and opens opportunities across industries such as defence, advanced packaging, hydrogen storage and low-friction materials. The company is now transitioning from R&D startup to commercial scale-up, with production ramping up, global agreements underway, and preparations for a Series A round. With around 16 people today, Graphmatech is still very much a startup: hands-on, collaborative, and driven by people who solve problems together and celebrate progress together. Now they are looking for the commercial leader who can help turn strong technology into focused growth. The role As Chief Commercial Officer, you will lead the commercial direction and be a core member of the leadership team. The technology opens multiple markets and applications. Your task is to help the company decide where to focus, how to win, and how to turn opportunity into scalable business. You will own the commercial agenda end-to-end, from market choices and partnerships to pricing, positioning and revenue growth, while bringing structure, priorities and momentum to the organisation. A Business Development Manager will handle day-to-day sales. Your role is to set the direction, build the commercial foundation, and lead the most important strategic dialogues. For the right person, the role may also include serving as Interim CEO for 9–12 months during a planned parental leave period, ensuring continuity and execution. This is a strategic leadership role in a hands-on startup environment, where you shape the path forward while helping build the company as it grows. What you will do: Own the commercial strategy and growth agenda; define market focus, business models, pricing, partnerships and go-to-market to turn technology into scalable revenue. Build the commercial engine; establish structure, processes and priorities, lead key customer and partner dialogues, and support the development of the sales and marketing function. Align the organisation around growth, ensure strong collaboration between commercial, R&D and production. Represent the company externally, engage with customers, partners, investors and industry stakeholders, and contribute to fundraising readiness. (For the right candidate) Lead the company as Interim CEO during a planned parental leave period, ensuring stability, focus and continued progress. The role is based in Uppsala, Sweden, with an expectation of on-site presence. You are a visible leader and ambassador for the company internally and externally. The profile We are looking for a senior commercial leader who enjoys building things that are not fully defined yet. You are comfortable working in a startup environment where priorities shift, decisions need to be made with incomplete data, and progress often comes from momentum and teamwork rather than perfection. You likely bring: Senior commercial leadership experience with responsibility for growth, strategy and business performance, preferably with relevant industrial experience (e.g., advanced materials and manufacturing). Experience from scaling organisations, commercialising innovative technologies and solutions, or building new business areas. Strong commercial and financial understanding, combined with a pragmatic, execution-oriented mindset. Hand on sales energy and grit. Experience building teams, processes or structure in a growing company. Curiosity, integrity and an entrepreneurial approach, with a collaborative and solution-oriented way of working.
