MachineGames is looking for a Playtest & Community Manager to oversee and drive or internal and external playtests and also managing our communities across several platforms. To thrive in this role, we believe you as a person are both heavily detailed organized, and great at overseeing both the bigger picture and the smaller objectives simultaneously. You are a great communicator and enjoys being the driving force and collaborator between multiple teams and departments if needed to ensure smooth deliveries and play sessions. You enjoy engaging with players and create fun and engaging community-driven events. Our studio is located in central Uppsala, Sweden which is a small and vibrant city 40 minutes north of Stockholm with a historical heritage reaching back to pre-medieval times. This is a permanent onsite position starting as soon as possible, where we offer the possibility to work in a hybrid capacity. Responsibilities Plan, prepare, run, oversee and participate in playtests. Support defining objectives and finding conclusions from playtests. Organize and support developer-focused community activities such as live streams, AMAs, Q&A sessions, and in-person meetups. Assist in community communication during game launches, major updates, and high-pressure situations. Oversee community spaces and manage content calendars (e.g., dev diaries). Supervise community ambassadors and ensure community guidelines are upheld. Coordinate beta testing initiatives, gather player feedback, and assist QA teams with bug tracking and reporting when needed. Plan, coordinate, support and execute community-driven events and contests to foster player involvement and grow the community. Track and report on community sentiment to inform and improve current and future engagement strategies. Collect, analyze, and compile player feedback to provide actionable insights to the development and publishing teams. Identify and escalate emerging community concerns and lead initiatives to address them proactively. Collect and organize playtest feedback to show whether upcoming changes accomplish their specific goals. Manage test plans for future tests and defects uncovered during playtests. Qualifications Played FPS games at a high level. High-level understanding of micro and macro decisions required to optimize FPS gameplay. Proven previous experience in a role where your expertise can be transferred into this role. Excellent communication skills in English, in both written and verbal form. Take part in the development of our latest project, Exoborne, an exciting next step in the studio’s evolution and growth. As a Senior Games Quality Analyst, you will contribute to building the foundation for a great QA team. This means being involved with game features from their planning through the different stages of implementation. Working as a quality analyst with us is not just about finding and reporting bugs, but collaborating closely with a multitude of different departments involved in the process to produce the best possible player experience. We expect QA team members to be proactive and engage in establishing the testing practices and procedures for areas of the game for which they are responsible. We're seeking someone who is collaborative, detail-oriented, adaptable, and skilled at balancing multiple priorities with care and efficiency. It’s a plus if you’re a gamer and even better if you enjoy the creative process integral to creating a new game and IP. Responsibilities Document test plans, QA tasks, and test cases for use by internal and external teams. Help manage the day-to-day tasks of our External FQA teams and facilitate the transfer of information where and when necessary. Review and prioritize bugs and create Jira dashboards for different project teams you will be supporting in this role. Perform hands-on testing and gain advanced knowledge of features and areas that you will have ownership of from a QA perspective. Follow up with thorough regression testing on bugs reported in your areas and investigate issues with complicated reproduction steps. Assist with planning and logistics for internal and external user experience playtests. Provide qualitative feedback, discuss, and engage with stakeholders, and ensure that we focus our efforts on verifying the game quality where it matters the most. Be proactive in building the test pipeline and process for the features you will have QA ownership over. Qualifications Demonstrable experience with testing, 5+ years working with quality control/quality assurance or a similar role. Previous employment in the gaming industry is a big plus. Proficiency in defect tracking tools and planning such as JIRA, Confluence, Testrail, and similar. Excellent communicative and interpersonal skills, capable of summarizing complex subjects to technical and non-technical team representatives. Ability to immediately recognize critical issues or testing deficiencies. Familiar with common development tools such as Perforce and Visual Studio. Experience working with Microsoft Office suite, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Solid understanding of live game development cycles, and familiarity with game engines and dev tools. This position is permanent and based in our Malmö studio. Please note that this position does not include relocation assistance. The studio develops AAA-quality games for PC and console, using the Unreal Engine to power its ambitions of taking multiplayer games to new heights.
