We are looking for a driven and service-oriented Global Technical Support Engineer to join our team in Västerås. In this role, you will have the opportunity to apply and expand your expertise in electrical machines, drive systems, and grid integration. Your Role As a Global Technical Support Engineer, you will provide advanced technical support across the organization, working closely with sales, project teams, and aftermarket functions. Your responsibilities include electrical and thermal dimensioning, supporting solution design to meet customer requirements, environmental conditions, and internal design standards. You will also follow the electrical design throughout the manufacturing process, evaluate machine performance during final testing, and contribute to customer and internal training in electrical machine theory. The role is broad and technically challenging, requiring a structured and solution-oriented mindset. You are comfortable prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment and thrive in collaborative settings where clear deliveries and teamwork are essential. Key responsibilities Support the sales and project organization with technical expertise and customer-adapted solutions, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and environmental conditions. Perform electrical and thermal dimensioning of synchronous motors, generators, and synchronous condensers. Be responsible for electrical design quality assurance throughout manufacturing, including evaluation of test results and machine performance. Educate sales teams, colleagues, and customers in electrical machine theory and technical solutions. Contribute to technical presentations and decision-making materials to support projects and business development. Your Profile A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems and rotating machines, or equivalent experience. Experience with the behavior of electrical machines in power systems is a merit. Proficiency in spoken and written English; Swedish is an advantage. Role and Responsibilites As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be part of a growing team in Vårgårda developing advanced HVDC/MVDC applications that protect systems used for producing, storing, and converting electrical energy. These applications include energy transmission and converter stations, as well as energy storage systems, and more, both for medium- and high-voltage environments. Your key responsibilities will include: Designing and developing electrical solutions for HVDC/MVDC switchgear that protect other equipment in the system Responsible for and performing high-voltage testing and verification in our newly established HV test laboratory Contributing to the electrical design of fast-acting, pyrotechnically triggered switching solutions Ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards and internal safety requirements Supporting product development through simulation, testing, and design reviews Actively contributing to the technical strategy and future roadmap for Electrical Safety Solutions Who Are You? About the assignment You will be part of a highly skilled and collaborative R&D team working with advanced mobile machines, electric drivetrains, and sophisticated control systems. The goal is to ensure that systems meet requirements related to performance, availability, and safety. The systems you will work with span a voltage range from 24VDC up to 800VDC and involve real-time control system software.
