I feel like we are the change the company wants to see.” Your role as a Trainee - Fuel Engineer The Fuel Engineering team provides technical expertise within nuclear fuel, control rods and safeguards. The team leads and supports projects related to the reactor core and fuel, including core modifications, fuel repairs, procurement of control rods and nuclear fuel, fuel and control rod licensing activities, safeguards and planning of fuel transport. The work combines technical support, project coordination and long-term development of fuel-related activities at Forsmark Nuclear Power Plant. As a trainee, you will support both ongoing operational activities and development initiatives. Your responsibilities may include: Supporting activities related to nuclear fuel Participating in inspections of nuclear fuel and control rods Reviewing technical reports, analyses and documentation Supporting technical investigations and evaluations Analyzing operational and inspection data Contributing to development improvement initiatives Collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to solve technical challenges The work is varied and combines technical analysis with practical activities. You may spend one day reviewing technical reports and inspection results, and another day supporting activities in the reactor hall during planned outage periods. You will work closely with experienced team members and gain exposure to many different parts of the business. The Opportunity Do you want to develop advanced control and protection functions for some of the world's largest power transmission projects? As a Control & Protection Engineer, you will work with the development, configuration, and verification of control and protection applications for HVDC systems. Using graphical programming environments for real-time systems, you will design and implement functionality for control, monitoring, automation, and protection. HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a product group in Hitachi Energy, which develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. It is also used to connect power systems. Your responsibilities To successfully take on this position, you need to be thorough and structured with a high technical interest and strive for good solutions within the set time limits. HVDC is a complex product, there is always more to learn. Your main task will be to study and verify the overvoltage protection scheme through simulations in PSCAD/EMTDC.
