We are now looking for exceptional antenna design engineers to join our Product Development Teams, both junior and senior profiles are encouraged to apply. Job Description As part of the antenna team, you will have a key role in Gapwaves mission of leveraging innovative technologies to deliver advanced antenna solutions at mm-wave frequencies. As an antenna engineer you will be part of a development team of 5-8 persons who have the full responsibility for one or several customer and research projects. The responsibility starts from product specification, design, verification and delivery to customer. As an antenna designer the main task is to design and verify antennas together with with the rest of the team. Depending on your seniority, the technical expertise and drive will be a key asset in the interaction with customer, support your colleagues, RF design, fault finding & quality assurance. Additionally, you will be given the opportunity to engage in our research activities and academic collaborations. Senior profiles in particular are expected to have relevant experience and contribute to advance the technical knowhow and excellence of the department. We are now looking for an Industrial PhD and/or Research Engineer to join our Innovation Team. We have several initiatives and research projects around D-band passive frontends and are looking for exceptional researchers in the field of RF engineering with a strong interest in developing novel and impactful solutions. Job Description As a member of the Innovation Team you will carry out research activities in line with the company's technology goals. You will be sitting with our larger Research and Development department and focus on strategic research activities. The main research topic will be around D-band passive front end the available roles are industrial PhD or alternatively Research Engineer. Industrial PhD We offer the possibility to take an Industrial PhD within the VINNOVA funded research project ENTOURAGE: Energy Efficient Point to Multipoint Fronthaul for 6G Wideband Distributed MIMO. The research project is in collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology, Ericsson and GotMIC. Distributed Multiple Input, Multiple Output (DMIMO) is seen as one of the key approaches for 6G networks to increase the user data rates while simultaneously enhancing spectral and energy efficiency. DMIMO relies on densely deployed radio access points (APs) which opens the question how these APs themselves should be connected to the network – called fronthauling. This project aims to solve this question by developing a wideband wireless fronthaul solution based on a point to multipoint smart antenna array at D-Band. This sub-THz frequency band provides ample absolute bandwidth which will be required for the expected data rates, but poses technological challenges in terms of antenna frontend and transmitter electronics. With a diverse team in terms of expertise and a mix of academia (Chalmers) and industry (Ericsson, Gotmic and Gapwaves) the ENTOURAGE team is well positioned to solve these challenges and develop the key components for future 6G fronthaul networks, thus unlocking the DMIMO network revolution The research will be carried out with the gap waveguide technology as the fundamental baseline for developing a high frequency antennas and components soluitins for D-band fronthauling for communication. As an industrial PhD student you will be employed by Gapwaves but will follow the PhD educational program at Chalmers Department of Electrical Engineering. As a student you have the same obligation and opportunities as a University employed PhD student but also the industrial support and influence. You will be given the full access to world-class millimeter wave labs at Chalmers. Supervision team will include both industry experts and supervisors at Chalmers. Qualifications Applicants should have, or expect to receive, a Master of Science degree or equivalent in a relevant electrical engineering or applied physics discipline. In addition to the formal qualifications, selection is also based on the performance of the candidates in other works (e.g. thesis and advanced level courses), as well as through interviews and assignments. Besides good subject knowledge, emphasis will be on creative thinking, motivation, ability to cooperate, initiative to work independently and personal suitability for research training. Previous experience in the area of Electromagnetic fields and Antenna theory as well as proficiency in using Full-wave solvers such as HFSS and CST is considered to be an advantage.
