The opportunity In this role, you will be part of the HVDC System Performance Department which is responsible for the overall performance of HVDC transmission links. This includes the interaction of the link with the surrounding AC-networks and related AC-Network stability studies. As a System Study Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be part of large HVDC projects and be exposed to system studies performed during various stages of a project’s lifecycle. Participate in different stages of an HVDC project’s lifecycle, including support of our sales department during the marketing phase, over tenders, and order projects. Cooperate with leading specialists of various disciplines involved in project and tender Your background You hold a Bachelor’s degree (preferably with HVDC experience), or a Master’s or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, power systems, engineering physics, or a related field. Experienced Power System Studies Engineer or fresh out of university – we are interested in talents with various levels of experience! You are familiar with programs and tools such as PSCAD/EMTDC, PSSE, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, Matlab, and/or ETAP. How you'll make an impact Your main task will be to work with auxiliary power system components and design of our plants to assure the highest quality and robustness in our delivery projects and tenders Support tenders, project and platform as well as work directly in delivery project Develop the base/detailed design and relevant documents and drawings (using E3) based on customer requirements as well as global and local standards Validate the auxiliary system design via ETAP analysis and prepare the reports Technical review and discussion with customers, partners, subcontractors, and vendors Collaborate and network with colleagues, share the best practice across different projects Live Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business Your background You hold at least a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering +5 years of relevant experience Knowledge of AC Auxiliary power system design (< 1 kV), DC Auxiliary power system design, UPS, Distribution panels, battery charger, low voltage cable design (<1kV) You have previous experience of customer interaction and working in tenders, and are familiar with activities such as project work, standardization, base platform work Experience of ETAP and E3 tools You have good communication skills in English, both spoken and written. The opportunity Plant Electrical Design is part of HVDC Engineering and manages the delivery of the auxiliary power system for HVDC stations. The system we manage includes equipment such as auxiliary transformers, medium & low voltage switchgear, diesel generator systems, batteries, UPS and cables. To be able to deliver the system in a safe and reliable way, we are now searching for Designers to strengthen our team. In this role, you will be part of a team with the overall responsibility for the department’s scope of delivery which includes system design, selectivity studies, equipment specification, cable and cable transit systems. The design of the auxiliary system is complex and customized based on the customer requirements which makes our work challenging, but also very exciting since every project is different from another. By collaborating with your team, you will ensure that our deliveries are time and cost efficient with expected quality. You will also have a large global network since you will be part of a global and diverse team located in different countries around the world. This role has two openings and they will be based in Västerås. How you´ll make an impact Create Auxiliary Power Single Line Diagrams (SLD). Perform load calculations and prepare List of Load. Ensure accurate dimensioning of equipment. Read and understand requirement specifications, review supplier drawings, and participate in customer meetings. Take part and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and supervise installation and commissioning. Perform tasks related to cable way and cable design. Your background Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Experience from a similar role with tasks in auxiliary power, selectivity studies, or leading installation/commissioning of low voltage equipment. A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to team efforts. Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken). Knowledge of CAD-tools that handle both electrical circuit diagrams and layouts is a plus.
